{"id":1225,"date":"2011-09-22T06:21:20","date_gmt":"2011-09-22T06:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/datafutures.net\/ecsi\/?page_id=1225"},"modified":"2011-09-22T07:25:39","modified_gmt":"2011-09-22T07:25:39","slug":"tradestation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.csidata.com\/?page_id=1225","title":{"rendered":"TradeStation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Set up CSI&#8217;s Unfair Advantage with Trade Station<\/h4>\n<h5>Requirements:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>CSI&#8217;s Unfair Advantage software<\/li>\n<li>Trade Station software<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Trade Station info:<\/h5>\n<p>Let\u2019s say you\u2019re a spread trader with positions in multiple commodity markets: March and May corn, March and May soybeans, and February and April gold, for example.<\/p>\n<h5>Follow these simple steps to create such a portfolio:<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Click UA\u2019s Portfolio Menu and then click \u201cCreate New Portfolio.\u201d Type a portfolio name, such as, \u201cMyFutures\u201d and click [OK]. Unfair Advantage will proceed to the market selection screen.<\/li>\n<li>At the \u201cSelecting Data Series\u201d screen, make sure the \u201cMarket Type\u201d says \u201cFutures.\u201d In the \u201cSymbols\u201d box to the right of market type, enter the symbols for each of these commodities. For our example, the input would be \u201cC, S, GC.\u201d (If you prefer to use CSI numbers, go ahead and enter them as 9, 17, 30.) Or, if you don\u2019t know either, you can choose from a list by clicking the [Mkts] button next to the \u201cSymbols\u201d box.<\/li>\n<li>Since the delivery months you trade are fairly nearby, it would be easy to view them as part of an \u201cIndividual Futures Group\u201d (IFG). Simply click the \u201cIFG\u201d tab in the center section of the screen where contract types are selected. Click [OK] to accept that the nearest three contracts will be included for each of your markets. (This will encompass the required contracts, plus a few more).<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019ll be analyzing this data with another software program when you\u2019re finished with UA, chances are good that you\u2019ll need to export the files into CSI format.<br \/>\nYou\u2019ll see the choices at the right side of the data selection screen. Check all desired formats by clicking the appropriate boxes.<br \/>\nClick [OK] and your quick-and-easy portfolio will be created, with the contents listed in the Portfolio Manager panel. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>The following instruction will help you to open Unfair Advantage data files with Trade Station after you set up and write the files through Unfair Advantage.<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Run Omega Research Trade Station.<\/li>\n<li>Select &#8220;Open New Workspace&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Select the &#8220;Create a Trade Station Chart Window&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Select the 3rd Party Directory.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;New Dir&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>In the Data Type list, select the format in which the data is stored.<\/li>\n<li>In the Directory box, enter the exact path for the directory.<\/li>\n<li>To select the directory, click Browse. Navigate through the data tree by clicking on the appropriate path until you find your directory.<br \/>\nClick the &#8220;OK&#8221; button. The specified directory is placed in the Directory box.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>If you don&#8217;t know the path, or you want to add multiple directories at once, you can use the Scan feature. See the instructions below.<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the &#8220;OK&#8221; button.<\/li>\n<li>The directory is added to the drop-down list.<\/li>\n<li>Select the commodity or stock and click the &#8220;Plot&#8221; button. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>To add multiple directories at once using the Scan feature:<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the 3rd Party Directory.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;New Dir&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>In the Data Type list select the format in which the data is stored. CSI Format.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Scan&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the drive letter you want to scan for data directories (e.g., C:\\).<\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8220;OK&#8221; button.
